We are pleased to announce that Fred Horn is joining our church staff and will be serving as our accompanist!  Fred’s gifts and abilities are extensive.  He has exceptional skill and experience not only in piano, but also in choral conducting, voice, organ, and most woodwind instruments.  As Ginter Park Baptist Church’s accompanist, he will provide accompaniment for worship and for choir rehearsal.

Fred Horn hails from the Commonwealth of Kentucky and holds both a bachelor’s degree in music education from Morehead State University, a master’s degree in church music from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary along with Post Graduate work in music therapy from the Institute of Worship Studies. He has served as Minister of Music in churches throughout Kentucky, Indiana and Virginia since 1983. He has a deep passion for teaching and mentoring preschoolers, children and teens. He has been part of the annual Virginia Baptist Music and Worship Arts Camp for grades 4-12 since 1992 and has served as its coordinator since 2004. He is active throughout the Ashland and Hanover County community in musical arts. He currently serves on the national board of trustees for Ministering to Ministers while working part-time for the Hanover County School System with hopes of returning full-time to the public school classroom. Fred and his wife, Lisa, have been married since 1987 and have one adult daughter.

Fred has been serving as our guest accompanist for the past two weeks and as of this week will shift into the more permanent role.  Let’s extend a warm welcome to Fred and Lisa as they become a part of the life of Ginter Park Baptist Church!
