Summer school at Ginter Park Elementary gives us the opportunity to continue the Backpack Ministry for five weeks during the summer. Each week 15 students receive a bag full of food for breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks for the weekend. The food items are chosen based on nutrition, what we think would be yummy for the children, and are easy for them to open and fix themselves. Fresh fruit is included each week.
The faculty and staff at Ginter Park Elementary are an important piece of our ministry. They answer our phone calls, gather the bags from our cars and distribute the bags to students, always with a smile on their faces.
The Backpack Ministry team is organizing for the 2017-2018 school year. Now is the time for you to make a contribution! How many bags the ministry budget can support will be determined by how much money is in the account at the end of August. Every dollar donated to the Backpack Ministry has been used to buy food for students. Last year 30 children received backpacks. Let’s increase that number for 2017-2018!
