The Season of Lent begins this Wednesday with Ash Wednesday. While we at Ginter Park Baptist will not be hosting our own service, we do want to encourage folks to seek out a service that meets their needs.

Here are a few possibilities.

Richmond Hill (2201 E. Grace St.)
7:00 AM | 12:00 PM | 6:00 PM
Richmond Hill, an ecumenical retreat center located in Church Hill, will offer the Imposition of Ashes at all three of its daily prayer services. The service should run about 30 minutes. Sheryl will be taking part in the 6:00 PM service with the Co-Pastoral Directors of Richmond Hill.

Union Presbyterian Seminary • Early Center (1106 Westwood Ave)
11:45 AM
The seminary will observe Ash Wednesday at their weekly chapel service in Lake Chapel, located in the Early Center (adjacent to Watts Hall on the corner of Westwood and Brook).   The service will run 45 min to an hour. Immediately following the service, the community eats lunch prepared by their chef, Wes Holland, and guests are warmly invited to join for only $10 a person.

St. Paul’s Episcopal Church (815 E. Grace St)
12:00 PM | 7:00 PM
As part of their Wednesday noontime Lenten series, “City of God,” the church will provide the imposition of Ashes for Ash Wednesday. This first service of the series will not have a speaker, but lunch will still be available for $9 for dine-in or takeout following the 30-minute service. Their evening service will include Choral Holy Eucharist in addition to the Imposition of Ashes.

Chamberlayne Heights United Methodist (6100 Chamberlayne Rd.)
12:00 PM | 7:00 PM
The invitation has been extended by Pastor Linda for folks to attend the Ash Wednesday service of Chamberlayne Heights United Methodist.

Of course, this is not anywhere close to an exhaustive list, but hopefully, it has provided you with an idea of where you might consider attending.

And we hope to see you at Watts Chapel at Union Presyberian Seminary (3401 Brook Rd) on Sunday, March 10, at 10:30 AM for our worship service on the first Sunday of Lent.
