Over the next several weeks, Sheryl Johnson, Associate Pastor, will convene a discussion on Wednesday evenings from 6:30-7:30pm around the New York Times best-selling book White Fragility: Why is it so hard for white people to talk about racism? by Robin DiAngelo, “exploring the counterproductive reactions white people have when their assumptions about race are challenged, and how these reactions maintain racial inequality.”

“As a woman of color, I find hope in this book because of its potential to disrupt the patterns and relationships that have emerged out of long-standing colonial principles and beliefs. White Fragility is an essential tool toward authentic dialogue and action. May it be so!”
—Shakti Butler, president of World Trust and director of Mirrors of Privilege: Making Whiteness Visible

In preparation for the first session on June 17, buy the book and please watch these videos:

We’ll begin discussing the book itself at our second session, June 24, and will make available a scan of the first two chapters for those waiting for their purchased copy to arrive.  Register below or contact Sheryl and we’ll send you the Zoom link to join the conversation.

“It is white people’s responsibility to be less fragile; people of color don’t need to twist themselves into knots trying to navigate us as painlessly as possible.”
—Robin DiAngelo, in White Fragility
